ALPHA

WHAT IS ALPHA ?

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for anyone; everyone is welcome on an Alpha Course and people attend for a wide variety of reasons. Some want to investigate whether God exists and if there is any point to life; others are concerned about what happens after death. Still others may have attended church on and off all their lives but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. People come from many different backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints — but all come with the same objective; to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives.

A - Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith.

L - Learning & Laughter - it is possible to learn and have fun at the same time.

P - Pasta; eating a meal gives people the opportunity to know each other.

H - Helping one another through small group discussions.

A - Ask anything! Alpha is a place where no question is regarded as hostile.

The Alpha Course is Free. Guests may be invited to make a voluntary contribution towards the food and the cost of the weekend away.

The Course is 11 weeks long; a typical meeting starts at 6:00 pm with a full course dinner accompanied by music and other entertainment. There is a 45 minute video presentation followed by small group discussion. Most people find the small group sessions the most valuable and rewarding times of the whole Alpha course. The sessions are an opportunity to ask questions and express opinions about the topic of the evening. They also provide the opportunity to make friends and bounce ideas around in a relaxed and non-threatening environment. The evening ends at 9:00 pm.
