The Cemetery Committee
The Cemetery is an integral part of the church grounds, and it is
administered by a committee responsible to the Rector and Wardens.
The committee chairperson is the Cemetery Superintendent who is supported
by a group of people interested it's appearance, planning for the future,
as well as setting policy for the present and future upkeep of the cemetery.
The main requirement after correct procedures for interment have been conducted
is to make sure that accurate records of the interred people are kept. These are
kept on the church administrator's computer and a copy of the records is kept on
disc, off premises, so that in the event of theft or fire, a backup copy is still
available.
Our church cemetery has been in existence for over a hundred years thus
providing lots of history in itself. The committee is always looking for
help in cutting the grass and the various assignments necessary in keeping
the cemetery tidy.
A year last Easter a new Garden of Remembrance was created, and in
the near future we hope to section off plots in the woods adjacent to the
new pathways. This will create a lot of work and should be interesting to
budding landscapers.
