Worship

Purpose:

To assist the clergy in planning, preparing and reviewing worship services -- in particular, but not limited to, the special services of Advent and Christmas, Lent, Holy Week and Easter.


The committee will meet periodically throughout the year and well in advance of the above mentioned church seasons in order to provide adequate time to plan the liturgies of these special services.

The committee may also meet when called upon by the incumbents for extraordinary purposes. If deemed necessary the committee may meet monthly.

An example of the areas that a worship committee may assist the incumbent(s) would be in discussions of style of worship; service times; music; lay participation and leadership; themes; the use of liturgical space;
education about the liturgy etc.

Structure:

The committee may be chaired by the incumbent or co-chaired by the incumbent and a member of the committee

The committee should have representatives of those directly involved in planning the liturgy i.e. the clergy, musicians (for both 9:15 & 11:00), altar guild members, lay assistants, sidespersons, greeters, Sunday school teachers, the wardens, member of Parish Council.
